After countless starts, restarts and pauses, I'm back with a new blog for sharing small business ideas that are mostly suitable in kerala.
In this time gap, I had encountered many a idea about business, and most was forgotten as I was too lazy to write it down. Well, most ideas are just some ideas about innovation in a business or about creating a better customer service.
Attracting Customers to your Retail Shop
During Covid peak phase and around that time, provision shops make quick steady business from people who felt scarcity. There was fear about how to procure things, not knowing when the lockdown will be announced. And this uncertainty was a blessing for many shops owners. People who had money bought more stuffs than what was required. |
Post Covid sales
In and around the junction where I stay, many shops has sprouted. Most of them are vegetable shops and provision shops. These shops enjoyed good biz during Covid. We were one of the customer of a shop who had fantastic delivery set-up. But now, we are buying from a larger margin free shop which has home delivery system. And they have started vegetable counter too. So, it makes us easy to buy from this shop, rather than buying vegetable alone from one shop.
Addons to Margin Free Shop
This is one idea which I pitched to three Margin Free shops in our locality. Here's the simple plan that I had proposed.
1. Give option for customers to buy coconut and get them grated before they finish rest of the shopping.
Reason I think that this will work is that people find grating coconut has a time consuming biz and people like us are used to storing grated coconut in the freezer for later use.
Thinking that there's a good market, I told around three shops, but they all gave some sloppy excuse for not taking up. Another reason that it was no adopted was that I had shared these ideas to the employees not the stake holder. And, as we typically know, most employees are just robots who can only pick stuff from the aisel and keep it as the cash counter or just collect money from the customer.
Pathetic! I wonder why the ideas as discarded by all these shop fellas. Also, I was imagining if one shop owner starts to implement this biz idea and if theres customer demand, then every other bugger will adopt it with out anyone peaching about the viability of the plan.
So, what do you think or rate this idea? Will it work in an urban place? I have a gut feel that customers are time starved and they are looking for reliable and better way to save their time.
Net, net, try to incorporate ideas in your provision shop that makes things easy for the consumer.
Amen to this idea!
